Demand for fair investigation in High Court
Advocate Amit Singh, representing the student’s family, said that the family is not satisfied with the police investigation so far. He said that a petition has also been filed in the Rajasthan High Court demanding an impartial investigation. The lawyer argues that the school principal had legal responsibility for the safety of the student. He also said that Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, which deals with cruelty to a child, should have been included in the charge sheet. Also, based on the available evidence, provisions related to inciting a child to commit suicide should also be considered.
Hearing postponed, investigation still ongoing
The family’s lawyer, citing some videos viral on social media, alleged that the student was ignored in the class and some of the comments made later could have affected her mental condition. He also raised questions on the role of the school management and demanded a thorough investigation.
The case was listed for hearing in the court on Tuesday, but the hearing could not proceed after the counsel for the accused sought additional time for personal reasons. At present the investigation is ongoing and there has been no official response from the investigating agencies on the new allegations made by the family.
