According to religious texts, the festival of Rakshabandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of Sawan. This time Sawan Purnima Tithi will start from 09:09 am on Thursday, 27th August and will continue till 09.48 am on the next day i.e. Friday, 28th August. Since the sunrise of Purnima Tithi will be on 28th August, the festival of Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on this day.

According to Pt. Sharma, this time there is a coincidence of lunar eclipse on Saavan Purnima i.e. Friday, 28th August. Due to which many questions are arising in the minds of people regarding Raksha Bandhan festival. Everyone wants to know about the lunar eclipse occurring on Raksha Bandhan. The special thing is that this eclipse will not be visible anywhere in India, hence it will not be considered to have any effect here.

According to scholars, since the lunar eclipse occurring on Rakshabandhan will not be visible anywhere in India, hence any effect of it like Sutak etc. will not be valid here.
