Mysore (Karnataka) [भारत]July 11 (ANI): Veteran playback singer S., popularly known as ‘Nightingale of South India’. Janaki died at the age of 88 in Apollo Hospital, Mysore. She was suffering from age related health problems. He was admitted to the hospital early today after his health deteriorated.
According to the press release of Apollo BGS Hospital, Mysore, he was admitted at 12:49 pm on July 11. “Despite intensive medical care and constant monitoring by the multi-disciplinary team, he suffered cardiac arrest during treatment,” the press release said. He was declared dead at 7:30 pm.
Leaders expressed grief
Political leaders cutting across party lines expressed condolences and remembered the veteran singer for her unique contribution to Indian music. Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has expressed deep condolences on the demise of the veteran playback singer popularly known as ‘Gaan Kogile’.
In a statement, the CM said she would like to honor the memory of iconic Indian playback singer and multilingual singer S. Very saddened by the news of Janaki’s demise. Shivakumar said, “As long as Kannada language exists, S. Janaki’s songs will remain immortal. We have grown up listening to Kannada songs in his voice. He added sweetness to the beauty of Kannada.”

Though she was originally from Andhra Pradesh, her love for Kannada led her to settle in Mysore. She has the distinction of singing more than 48,000 songs in more than 20 languages. With the demise of Janakiamma, the great melody of the music world has fallen silent.”
The CM noted that Janaki was honored with several awards, including the Padma Bhushan, as well as state awards from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and other states. Shivakumar said in his condolence message, “I pray to God to give her fans and family members the strength to bear the pain of Janakiamma’s loss.”
YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also condoled the demise of the veteran singer, calling her one of the brightest stars of Indian music. He wrote on
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) described Janaki’s demise as an “irreparable loss” to the music industry and Indian cinema. He wrote in his tribute, “The news of the demise of the renowned singer S. Janaki Garu is very sad! S. Janaki Garu, the great singer who could awaken all the nine senses with her melodious voice. For almost six decades, she enthralled Indians by singing thousands of songs in various Indian languages. Janaki Garu spent some of her childhood years in Sircilla, which I represent. The demise of Janaki Garu is an irreparable loss to the music world and the Indian film industry. Is.”
KTR further said, “Even though he is no longer physically with us, his songs will always enthrall us. I pray for the eternal peace of the soul of S. Janaki Garu. I express my deepest condolences to his family members and fans.”
