Delhi government has launched Mission Kayakalp for the rejuvenation of government schools. Under the scheme, repair of school buildings, modern labs, RO plants, renovation of toilets, greenery and better facilities for students will be developed.

The government has taken a big step towards making the government schools of Delhi modern and equipped with better facilities. Launching ‘Mission Kayakalp’, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that government schools in the capital will be transformed into safe, clean and inspiring learning campuses. Under this campaign, along with strengthening the infrastructure in schools, modern facilities will also be developed for the students.

There will be major infrastructure improvements in schools

The Chief Minister said that under Mission Kayakalp, repair and development work will be done on a large scale in selected government schools. These include repair of buildings, painting of walls, waterproofing, drainage system of roofs, renovation of toilets, installation of RO plants and water coolers, modernization of science laboratories, special facilities for disabled children, increasing greenery and making the school premises attractive. According to the government, in this scheme, along with government funds, cooperation of social organizations, market associations, local community and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will also be taken.

Changes started appearing in many schools

The Chief Minister said that work under the initial phase has been completed in two government schools in each revenue district. Renovation of sensory park, RO plant and water coolers have been installed for children with special needs in the school located on Shankaracharya Marg in North district. At the same time, the Physics Lab in the Government School of Roop Nagar has been modernized so that the students can get better practical education. Works like repair of toilets, replacement of sanitary fittings, repair of walls and ceilings and new painting of the entire building have been completed in Ramanujan Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Mehrauli and Sarvodaya Co-Ed Senior Secondary School, Qutub Mehrauli in South District.

The scheme will reach all schools in a phased manner

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that schools whose buildings were dilapidated earlier and lacked basic facilities are now seeing rapid change. The government aims to connect more and more government schools in the capital with Mission Kayakalp in the coming times through community participation. The government believes that better infrastructure facilities will strengthen the learning environment of students and there will be a major improvement in the quality of government schools.
