He said that the Delhi government neither has any proposal to shift Sadar Bazaar nor any plan is being worked on in this direction.

Due to these discussions, an atmosphere of confusion and uncertainty about the future was created among the traders. He said in clear words that the government has not taken any such decision and no such process is going on at present.

In this meeting, the traders informed the Chief Minister about the confusion and concern arising from the discussions about shifting of the market.

The delegation said that for some time now the news of shifting of the market to another place has been spreading rapidly. Due to this, thousands of traders are worried about the future of their business. After listening to the traders, the Chief Minister assured that there is no proposal or plan to shift Sadar Bazaar at the level of Delhi Government. He said that the aim of the government is not to remove Sadar Bazaar, but to develop it with modern facilities while preserving its historical identity and heritage.

Delhi Government Plan: Confidence in solving old problems of the market

Federation of Sadar Bazaar Traders Association (FESTA) President Rakesh Kumar Yadav said that in the meeting held with the Chief Minister, not only the rumors of shifting were discussed, but the long-standing problems of the market were also discussed in detail.

The traders drew the Chief Minister’s attention to problems like waterlogging, traffic jams, encroachment, electricity system and old infrastructure. Taking all these issues seriously, the Chief Minister assured that a concrete action plan will be prepared to resolve them by establishing coordination with the concerned departments.
