BWF World Championships: PV Sindhu stuns world no. 2 Wang Zhi Yi to enter quarterfinal

New Delhi: PV Sindhu produced a vintage performance to stun second-ranked Wang Zhi Yi 21-19, 21-15 at the BWF World Championship in the Adidas arena in Paris on August 28, Thursday. The two-time Olympic medallist finished the pre-quarter-final match in just 48 minutes to book a spot in the quarter-final.

The 15-ranked shuttler dominated the game from the start and gave no opportunity to Wang, who looked rusty in her returns. Sindhu maintained the game at a high pace and sealed the game comfortably.

Before the contest, Sindhu lost two consecutive matches against Wang, but courtesy of the win in Paris, she extended her head-to-head record to 3-2 against the world no. 2 shuttler.
