Do not throw mud till SIT investigation is completed: VHP
New Delhi [भारत]July 6 (ANI): Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international president Alok Kumar on Monday urged political leaders and the public not to throw “mud” at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust until the Special Investigation Team (SIT) completes its probe into the alleged donation theft at the Ayodhya temple.
Speaking to ANI after the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust accepted the resignations of general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra, Alok Kumar said the trustees are saddened by the alleged embezzlement of donations and have not defended themselves against the allegations. The VHP leader said, “The trustees are unhappy that the donations given for the temple were embezzled. This is unfortunate, and they did not defend it. He said that as soon as they came to know about it, they demanded the government to set up an SIT in this matter. As soon as the preliminary report of the SIT came, an FIR was registered. The investigation should be completed on time and the culprits should be punished. Till then, stop mudslinging.”
Resignations accepted for fair investigation
He further said that the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra were accepted by the Trust as it was considered that their continuation in the posts could hamper the investigation. He said, “It was being said that if Champat Rai and Anil Mishra continued in their posts, they could influence the investigation. Therefore, their resignations were accepted respecting their sentiments. Trustee Krishna Mohan has been entrusted with this responsibility. What to do next will be decided later. A search committee has been announced to find the CEO. The trustees have assured the society that all the valuable items given as donations are safe.”
Alok Kumar further said, “Many people are making allegations; they may have some information or documents or statements. All of them have been urged that if their statements are serious, they should inform the same to the SIT.”
Resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra accepted
Trust treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj said Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust accepted the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra after a high-level meeting on Monday. The Trust also decided to remove Gopal Nagarkote from the list of special invitees.
The Trust has appointed Trustee Krishna Mohan to discharge the responsibilities of the General Secretary until a new appointment is made. It also constituted a three-member committee comprising retired Justice Pramod Kohli, retired Lieutenant General Vishnukant Chaturvedi and Suresh Hawde to recommend candidates for the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Taking a dig at the opposition parties, Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj said, “Justice will be served and the culprits will be punished. We have faith in the justice system; my humble appeal is that do not believe in rumours.” (ANI)
