After missing the finals of two consecutive ICC tournaments, former champion Australia once again went to play the finals. In the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England, Australia, under the captaincy of Sophie Molineau, made it to the finals. On Sunday, July 5, both the teams came to play the title match at the historic Lord’s Stadium. As soon as the playing-11 of this match was confirmed, Australia’s legendary all-rounder Ellyse Perry achieved a special achievement. She played the T20 World Cup final for a record 7th time.

It was not decided to play in the final

This t20 world cup There was doubt over the participation of 35-year-old Alice Parry, who had consistently shown wonders with her bat and on some occasions with her bowling, in the final. Perry had a hamstring problem in the semi-final match against West Indies, due to which the situation was not clear whether she would be able to play the final or not. But as soon as Captain Molineau told during the toss that there is no change in the playing-11, the Australian fans heaved a sigh of relief.

Parry equaled Healy

Ellyse Perry, who has been playing in this tournament since the first T20 World Cup in 2009, has participated in all 10 editions so far. Out of this, the Australian team made it to the final for a record 8th time, in which this was Perry’s 7th final. With this, she equaled the record of her former teammate and legendary wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy. Both have played the T20 World Cup finals a maximum of 7 times each. Parry could not play in the 2020 final only due to injury.

Strong performance in the current World Cup

Talking about the current tournament, Perry had scored 185 runs at an average of 46 in 6 innings before the final. These are the highest runs for Australia in this tournament. Apart from this, he also bowled in 3 matches and during this he contributed to the team’s victory by taking 4 wickets. The interesting thing is that before the current World Cup, he had not scored a single half-century in the last 9 T20 World Cups, but this time he crossed the 50 mark in 2 consecutive innings, in which the memorable inning of 56 runs against India was the most special.
