No foul play in Disha Salian death case, confirms Special Investigation Team

New Delhi: The much-awaited case relating to the death of former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Disha Salin, finally sees some new news.

Maharashtra government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) instated to reinvestigate the death of Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, told the Bombay High Court that it has found no foul play in her death on Wednesday. The SIT though also said that investigation into the case is continuing.

New revelations in the case

The SIT appointed by the Maharashtra government said that since its appointment it has scrutinised every detail of the case meticulously and continues to do so.

The SIT’s statement was made in response to a petition filed by Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, seeking an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray and others, for foul play being involved in her death.

The SIT, led by the Additional Commissioner of Police, North Region, Mumbai, is looking at the case, which was earlier seen as a suicide.

In his plea, Satish Salian claimed that on June 8, 2020, Disha organised a party at her home that was attended by Aaditya Thackeray. Actors Sooraj Pancholi and Dino Morea were also allegedly present in the event. Citing eyewitness accounts, Disha’s father claimed that she was “gang-raped, forcibly restrained and subjected to brutal sexual assault”.

Senior Police Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar described the allegations of gang rape made by Disha’s father as “baseless and unfounded”. He said how the earlier closure report filed by the police was “based solely on scientific investigation conducted into the matter and the post-mortem report issued by the Borivali Post Mortem Centre.” The investigation revealed that Disha had been heavily inebriated before her death.

The SIT has requested the court to dismiss Salian’s plea due to lack of supporting evidence, however, the petition has been challenged by advocate Nilesh Ojha, who argues that the investigation was inadequate.
