Alert for heavy rain continues in 11 districts of Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and other districts may receive heavy rains from August 13 to 15 due to the active low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. The monsoon 2025 has received more than the average rainfall so far.
Mp monsoon update today: In Madhya Pradesh, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain in 11 districts. There is a possibility of heavy rains in divisions like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur due to the low pressure system to be active in the Bay of Bengal from 13 to 15 August. There may be up to four and a half inches of rain in 24 hours.
Which districts of Madhya Pradesh will be in the grip of rain?
Many districts including Chhatarpur, Satna, Panna, Rewa, Maihar, Damoh, Katni, Jabalpur, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat are under warning of heavy rains.

- August 13: Rain is expected in southern districts
- August 14: Heavy rains possible in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, Indore, Jabalpur divisions
- Constant rain estimated from August 15
Why is there such heavy rain?
According to Dr. Divya E. Surendran, Senior Scientist of the Meteorological Department, the low pressure system and two cyclonic circulation systems getting active in the Bay of Bengal are causing heavy rains in the state. From August 13, this system will become more active, causing continuous rains till 15 August.

- Average rainfall so far: 29.5 inches (6.7 inches more than normal)
- Districts with maximum rainfall: Guna (45.8 in), Niwari (45.1 in), Mandla-Tikamgarh (44 in), Ashoknagar (42 in)
Other warning districts of Madhya Pradesh
There is also a possibility of heavy rains in districts of Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Dindori, Sidhi, Singrauli, Mauganj, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria etc. of Madhya Pradesh. Looking at the recent data and active weather systems, experts believe that the rainy season can be faster between August 13 to 15. Therefore, people living in all concerned districts need to be vigilant.
What precautions should be taken?
- People living in rain districts should be cautious.
- Ensure waterlogging and cleaning of drains.
- Suddenly take care while coming out in the strong rains.
- Administrations were ready for relief operations in the affected areas.
