Social worker and former member of the Lok Sabha, Priya Dutt shared a remembrance post for her father and legendary actor Sunil Dutt on his death anniversary.

Sunil Dutt, who worked in the film industry for more than five decades, starred in over 80 films and left behind a remarkable legacy in Indian cinema and public service. Reflecting on the lessons she learned from him, Priya remembered a man who was much more than just an actor or political leader to her. She spoke about his kindness, compassion, humility, and the values he instilled in his family through both his words and actions.

For years, Priya Dutt has worked for the society, drawing inspiration from her father, Sunil Dutt. Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, she shared a heartfelt note remembering her father on his death anniversary today, May 25. A heartfelt throwback video assisted the message, which reflected his journey and shared moments.

She wrote, “Some people leave behind memories, some leave behind a legacy. And then there are a rare few, like my father, Sunil Dutt, who leave behind humanity itself as their greatest gift to the world”. Remembering Sunil Dutt for being a father before the actor or the leader he was, she recalled his persona. He was a person who had immense strength, filled with kindness and compassion that moved everyone who met him, Priya tells.

A Life Leading The Way

Priya Dutt further explained how Sunil Dutt taught her the very nature of a helping hand. From making her understand the dignity one must maintain to ensuring love comes with action, he has inspired many through the years he lived. “Your life continues to inspire not just our family but countless people whos live you changed quietly and selflessly”, she cast back.


Missing her father, Priya shares how his values, warmth and spirit live on with each step in their lives. “Forever loved. Forever remembered”, she concluded.

Sunil Dutt passed away on May 25, 2005. He is an icon simply for playing several roles, from being an actor, director, producer, to a politician; he has inspired many. Sunil Dutt is widely recognised for his roles in the classic films Mother India and Padosan. From the 60s to the 2000s, his craft remains evergreen.
