Smartphone accessories have honestly become a little boring lately.
Most of them are either power banks, charging docks, cooling fans, or another variation of a MagSafe wallet.
Oppo seems aware of that, because its new Bubble accessory feels like something designed purely to make phones more fun again.
Launched alongside the Reno 16 series in China, the Oppo Bubble is a small circular AMOLED display that magnetically sticks to the back of compatible Oppo phones.
And yes, it’s exactly as strange as it sounds.
It’s Basically A Tiny Screen For Your Phone’s Back Panel
The Bubble looks almost like a miniature smartwatch display attached to your smartphone.
It’s thin, lightweight, and designed to work as a customizable secondary screen. Users can place wallpapers, emojis, live photos, decorative themes, and even videos on it.
Oppo also added carousel support, which means the tiny display can rotate through images and animations instead of staying static all the time.
Honestly, it feels less like a serious productivity accessory and more like something halfway between tech and digital fashion.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The Selfie Features Actually Make Sense
The more practical side of the Bubble appears when you start looking at the camera features.
The accessory supports wireless live preview, which lets users see themselves while using the main rear cameras for selfies or group shots.
That’s useful because rear cameras are still significantly better than front cameras on most phones.
According to Oppo, the live preview works from up to 10 meters away. So if someone places their phone on a tripod for group photos, they can still check framing and remotely trigger the shutter without running back and forth awkwardly.
For content creators and people constantly taking photos during trips or gatherings, that part actually sounds pretty convenient.
Oppo Seems To Be Chasing Personalization Again
One interesting thing about the Bubble is how heavily it leans into customization instead of raw utility.
Smartphones have become incredibly similar over the years. Most phones now look like flat slabs with large camera modules and muted colors. Accessories like this seem designed to make devices feel personal again.
The Bubble can apparently even function as a standalone hanging accessory when paired with a supported case, which honestly sounds like something aimed directly at younger users who enjoy decorating devices and bags with tech accessories.
The Hardware Is Fairly Small And Lightweight
The Bubble itself is about 7mm thick and weighs 27.5 grams, so it shouldn’t make phones feel dramatically heavier.
Inside, Oppo has included a 550mAh battery, and the device pairs wirelessly with supported phones automatically when brought nearby.
Compatibility currently includes the Reno 14, Reno 15, Reno 16, and Find X8 series, along with the upcoming Find X9 lineup.
The accessory is priced at CNY 499, which converts to roughly Rs 7,000. Oppo hasn’t revealed any plans for an India launch yet.
