Radhika Apte On Nepotism And Women-Centric Films

told us that the makers are now taking risks and making different kinds of films with women in the lead. The Sacred Games star said, “Those risks need to be taken because we are not putting in money, are we? It’s not an easy thing. It’s easier said than done. It’s really interesting to see how much of the audience will go and watch it. Our audience is still very bound to watching male-led films. It is not like a chicken and an egg. It needs to both sort of change. For that, we have to probably make the first step. We have to try and make more content. That is why the change is slow, because you can’t change this overnight. Now, this show is made by men producers. Aditya Chopra produced it under YRF Entertainment. The show is written by a man and directed by a man as well.”

“I feel change is coming, but it is taking its time. It will take a longer time. It’s also not just a film industry; it’s not a separate entity. It is also a part of the society we live in,” Radhika added.

The actress also gave an example of how star kids’ films work because of the audience. Radhika said people are interested in their lives. She also explained how courageous filmmakers’ projects succeed. The  actress said, “We are talking about nepotism. How many of you are obsessed with star kids? Don’t you keep looking at them. That’s where the poor thing comes from. We are part of the society. It’s sort of like a mirror thing. It is taking time, but those who do take risks and believe in something will see good results. That’s very courageous. Good films were actually made when there were risks taken. When people play safe, it generally doesn’t work. It’s actually also proven, but we are still doing that.”

Radhika Apte Against Abusive Films

Radhika Apte further spoke about abusive films. She confessed that she can’t watch violent movies. The actress said, “I don’t want to watch abusive films. My brain can’t compute it. Our senses are getting numb. Look at the firecrackers we crack in this pollution. People don’t care about animals and other things. I don’t know why we are being so unaware of others and ourselves. I find it abusive to watch that amount of consistent violence. I don’t understand. These films are doing crores. How do you only blame the film industry? My brain can’t understand how such violent films are doing well at the box office.”

Coming back to Radhika Apte’s  , the web series is directed by Dharmaraj Shetty. The show also stars Anshuman Pushkar, Poornima Indrajith, Vishak Nair, Pooja Mohanraj, Kiran Karmarkar and others in supporting roles.
