Dharmapuri: In a shocking case of betrayal and murder, police in Dharmapuri have arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly poisoning her husband to death. The victim, Rasool, a local political functionary, was killed after consuming pesticide-laced food and pomegranate juice. The crime came to light after incriminating voice messages between the wife, Ammubi, and her accomplice, Lokeswaran, were discovered and later leaked on social media.
A Deadly Affair and a Calculated Murder Plot
Rasool, the deputy secretary of the minority wing of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), was a married man with two children. His wife, Ammubi, had allegedly been involved in an illicit relationship with Lokeswaran, who ran a salon near their home in Arur. The affair turned deadly when Rasool discovered their connection.
Enraged after finding his wife video-calling Lokeswaran from his salon, Rasool physically assaulted both of them. This attack is believed to have triggered the murder plot. According to police, Ammubi and Lokeswaran conspired to poison Rasool over multiple instances before finally killing him.
The murder unfolded gradually—Ammubi first mixed poison into Rasool’s food five times, causing severe illness. When he survived these attempts, they resorted to spiking his pomegranate juice with a lethal dose of pesticide. Shortly after drinking it, Rasool collapsed, vomiting blood, and was rushed to the hospital. Despite being shifted to Chennai’s Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital for advanced treatment, he succumbed to the poisoning.
Digital Trail of Guilt: The Damning Audio Clips
The investigation took a decisive turn when Rasool’s sister-in-law, Asina, checked his phone and found disturbing voice messages between Ammubi and Lokeswaran. In one clip, Lokeswaran instructs Ammubi on how to mix the poison: “The medicine I gave you will change the color slightly. If it turns dark brown, discard it. If it’s light, filter it and give it to him.” (Credit: Dinamathi)

Another audio message from Ammubi chillingly confirms the crime: “He drank the juice and fainted. I think he will pass out soon.” These recordings became crucial evidence, leading to the arrest of both Ammubi and Lokeswaran.
Police also noted that Lokeswaran had Ammubi’s name tattooed on his chest, further proving their intimate relationship. A murder case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing to determine if others were involved in the conspiracy.
