It was another screamer from Gill after he took a blinder for India in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. Sri Lanka end Day 4 on 229/6

Sri Lanka ended Day 4 on 229/6 after losing wickets in quick succession following the end of the partnership between Sooriyabandara and Mendis. Mendis’ departure triggered a mini-collapse as all-rounder Manav Suthar returned to run through Sri Lanka’s middle order before rain forced play to be called off early on Day 4.

Suthar dismissed Sooriyabandara on 92 before getting rid of Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva on 23. Saranash Jain then got rid of Niroshan Dickwella cheaply on 6 as Sri Lanka ended the day with 229/6 on the board in their second innings, leading India by only 16 runs. India remain the favourites to win the Test match if they can bundle out Sri Lanka as quickly as possible on Day 5 on Thursday.
