Karthik Aryan extends helping hand to Assam flood victims
Guwahati (Assam) [भारत]July 30 (ANI): Actor Kartik Aaryan has contributed Rs 1 crore to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help flood relief efforts in the state.
The contribution comes at a time when heavy rains continue in many parts of Assam and officials have warned of more rain in the next few days.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the actor for his generous support. Describing the contribution as “heart-touching”, the Chief Minister said it would help the flood-affected people.
“@TheAaryanKartik, really happy with your generous contribution. Your support will go a long way in helping the people of Assam,” CM Sarma wrote on Twitter. The Assam Chief Minister also thanked the actor for his timely help and appreciated his contribution to the relief work in the state. Meteorological Department issued alert of heavy rain
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorm at isolated places over Assam and neighboring states from July 30 to August 1.
Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has asked people to remain alert and follow official weather advisories.
Effect of rain in Arunachal Pradesh
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in parts of Arunachal Pradesh, including East Siang, Lohit, Namsai, Longding, Papumpare, Lower Subansiri and Lower Dibang Valley. These areas may impact the neighboring districts of Assam like Tinsukia, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur.
Orange alert for Nagaland also
Orange alert has been issued for Tinsukia district. Orange alert has also been issued for Mon, Mokokchung and Wokha districts of Nagaland, which may affect the districts of Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Golaghat in neighboring Assam.
According to IMD, many districts of Arunachal Pradesh are likely to receive heavy rainfall of 6-11 cm per day, while Papumpare district is expected to receive very heavy rainfall of 12-20 cm per day at isolated places.
ASDMA has urged people to keep abreast of the weather through its official website and social media platforms and follow instructions issued by local authorities. (ANI)
