Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [भारत]July 29 (ANI): A meeting was held between a group of ministers and farmer representatives at the ministry on Wednesday following instructions from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav amid the ongoing farmers’ protest over moong procurement. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Idal Singh Kansana, Minister Vishwas Sarang and Minister Krishna Gaur along with officials of the Agriculture Department.
March towards CM residence, clash with police
Today, protesting farmers attempted to move towards the Chief Minister’s residence by breaking barricades amid clashes with police. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the state government has formed a committee to interact with the farmers and resolve their concerns through dialogue. CM Yadav also urged the protesters to ensure that there is no inconvenience to the public, and stressed that the state is observing this year as “Krishi Kalyan Varsh” and the government is implementing several initiatives for the welfare of farmers.
CM Mohan Yadav appealed for talks
The Chief Minister said, “We are celebrating ‘Krishi Kalyan Varsh’ across Madhya Pradesh and doing many things for the benefit of farmers. I have formed a committee to hold talks on issues related to farmers. Yesterday, we had sent state Agriculture Minister Idal Singh Kansana, and today also, our team comprising Agriculture Minister Kansana, Minister Krishna Gaur, Minister Vishwas Sarang, Minister Rakesh Singh and senior officials will discuss with the farmers.”
He reiterated that the government is committed to addressing the concerns of farmers through constructive discussions. CM Yadav said, “We request the farmers to join the talks. The government has always stood by the farmers and welcomes their positive suggestions. At the same time, both sides should also ensure that the general public is not caused any inconvenience. We believe that a solution can be found through talks. We hope that all our farmer organizations, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and other unions together – when talking about the welfare of the public – will definitely talk about the welfare of the farmers as well.” (ANI)
