After the violence in the ‘Sansad Chalo’ protest over the NEET paper leak, a PIL has now been filed in the Delhi High Court demanding an NIA investigation. The court has agreed to hear this petition. Allegations of foreign funding have also been made in the petition.
New Delhi [भारत]July 23 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear on Friday a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the “Sansad Chalo” protest held on July 20 over the alleged NEET paper leak.
The petition demands transfer of all FIRs registered by Delhi Police in connection with the incident to a special investigation agency and action against those allegedly involved in the violence.
The matter was taken up before a division bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Karia. Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha, appearing for the petitioner, requested the court to take up the matter immediately and hear it tomorrow. The bench agreed to this and listed the case for hearing on Thursday.
This PIL has been filed by former vice president of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Satish Kumar Aggarwal, through lawyers Sneh Vardhan and Pratibha Sinha. In this, the Union of India, National Investigation Agency (NIA), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Delhi Police Commissioner and Delhi Government have been included as defendants.
Allegations of violence and sabotage in the demonstration
According to the petition, the protest started at Jantar Mantar on June 6, 2026, over the alleged NEET paper leak, which culminated in the “Sansad Chalo” march on July 20. The petitioner alleges that the protest turned violent, resulting in stone pelting, injuries to policemen, attacks on journalists, damage to public and private property, disruption of emergency services and attempts to move towards the Parliament House.
What is the demand made in the petition?
The plea has sought direction to the NIA or any other special investigation agency to investigate the July 20 incident, including the alleged attempt to enter the Parliament area and attack on policemen. It has also been demanded that all the FIRs registered by Delhi Police in connection with this incident should be transferred to the investigating agency.
Further, it urges the court to direct the authorities to identify all those responsible for violence, vandalism, obstruction of emergency services and damage to public and private property, register FIRs wherever necessary and take action as per law.
Allegations of foreign funding and political conspiracy also
The PIL alleges that what started as a protest over the NEET exam later got influenced by political leaders and other groups. Allegations have also been made about foreign funding and involvement of some activists and organizations and demands have been made to investigate those aspects.
The petitioner argues that peaceful protest is a constitutional right, but it cannot be used as a cover for violence, damage to property or acts affecting public order and national security. (ANI)
