Before the announcement of the team, the injuries of two players – Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis – have increased Sri Lanka’s worries. There is currently suspense over those two experienced players playing against India.

According to the report, when the selectors announce Sri Lanka’s Test team on August 1, it will then be sent to the Sports Minister of the country for the final approval. After the final approval from the Sports Minister, Sri Lankan players will gather in Colombo, from where they will travel to Galle, where the first Test will be played.

The big question facing Sri Lanka before choosing the team for the Test series against India is the injury to Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. Nissanka suffered a wrist injury earlier this month. Due to the same injury, he also had to miss the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League.

Whereas Kusal Mendis has suffered a hamstring injury during LPL 2026. He suffered this injury on July 19 in the match against Kandy Royals. Due to this injury, Mendis had to be ruled out of the current season of the Lanka Premier League. Sri Lanka Cricket Board has given information about Mendis’s injury on 22 July. Sri Lanka Cricket Board said that Mendis will be sent to the National High Performance Center for rehab.

The 2 test match series between India and Sri Lanka is starting from 15th August. The first test will be played between the two teams in Galle. Whereas the second test will be held in Colombo from 23rd August.
