New Delhi [भारत]July 22 (ANI): Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Wednesday said the government is ready to discuss every issue related to the paper leak in Parliament and the opposition should present its views.
Addressing a press conference here, Nadda said that more than 150 paper leaks pointed out by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are being investigated.
Ready for discussion in Parliament: Nadda
He said, “This matter will be discussed in Parliament. We are ready to discuss it in detail. We are ready to discuss every issue related to the paper leak on the platform of Parliament… The opposition should put forth its views, and the government will respond.”
“Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi gave a presentation in the Indian Parliament, and in that presentation he discussed around 150 paper leaks. This is a matter of investigation, and the government, being a responsible government, will definitely investigate and present the truth before the public and the country.”
‘The issue should not be politicized’
Nadda said that the issue of paper leak should not be politicized and it is a serious problem which needs in-depth discussion.
He asked, “We should go beyond allegations and counter-allegations and discuss this. The best medium for discussion is Parliament, and we are ready for that discussion. There should be a detailed discussion going into the details through an in-depth discussion. What factors are responsible for the paper leak? Who are the people involved in it, and how has the central government responded?”
He further said, “When a paper leak came to our notice how did we address the issue, and how should other governments address it? What is the point on which we should consider deeply and find a solution so that injustice is not done to millions of our students?”
He said that students have raised the issue of paper leak. “First of all, I urge that we should not politicize this issue and it is not appropriate to try to take political advantage from it. This is a serious problem and needs a thorough discussion,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi asked for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation
In his press conference earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi made several attacks on the government and demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He alleged that Dharmendra Pradhan has “failed as an education minister” and “he has literally destroyed India’s greatest asset” and said that Congress fully supports the demand for his resignation.
Rahul Gandhi also demanded accountability for the police action against protesters during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march, and said those who ordered it and those who carried it out should be held accountable.
The Congress leader said, “They (students) have some demands. The first demand is completely justified that Dharmendra Pradhan, who failed as education minister and is known to be corrupt, should be relieved of his duties. 100% justified demand. There is nothing wrong in it. He has shown India and the world that he is incapable of running this system. One exam after another is being leaked.”
He further said, “The second demand is that every person who pointed a finger at our students should be made accountable and it does not matter who is the one giving the orders and who is the one carrying it out. The third thing is that the person who is running this entire system, the person who is ultimately accountable for all this, should show the decency to apologize to the students for what has happened.”
There is a deadlock in Parliament over the opposition’s demand for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and insistence on raising the paper leak issue under specific rules. (ANI)
