Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka) [भारत]July 22 (ANI): A child was killed and two others were injured when a huge tree fell on a moving school bus near Barimaru village in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday evening.
According to Dakshina Kannada District Police, the incident occurred around 5:00 pm, when the Kalladaka Sri Rama School vehicle was dropping students home after school. Meanwhile, a big tree suddenly uprooted on the roadside and fell on the bus, crushing some part of the vehicle.
As a result, one child died on the spot due to serious injuries, while two other children were injured and were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Bantwal Rural Police has registered a case in connection with the incident and started a detailed investigation.
Deputy CM expressed grief, announced compensation
After this incident, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara expressed grief over this tragic incident in the district. In a post on X, G Parameshwara mentioned that he has directed the district administration to provide appropriate compensation to the bereaved family.
Parameshwara said, “Deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic incident in Bantwal, where young Chiranvi lost his life and some other children were injured when a tree fell on a school bus during rains. I have spoken to the Deputy Commissioner and directed the district administration to ensure appropriate compensation to the bereaved family and provide best possible treatment to the injured children. I have also spoken to the District Incharge Minister Shri U.T. Khadar and asked him to personally monitor the relief and assistance measures. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy and complete recovery of the injured children. The Government of Karnataka stands firmly with the affected families.” (ANI)
