Carlos Alcaraz’s Injury Woes Worsen; Pulls Out Of Wimbledon After Announcing French Open Withdrawal

Tennis fans will have to wait a long time to watch Carlos Alcaraz in action, as the Spaniard will now miss two Grand Slams. The World No. 2 will not play the 2026 Wimbledon after earlier revealing that he has pulled out of the upcoming French Open too.

The seven-time Grand Slam winner is suffering from a wrist injury on his right hand. The 23-year-old revealed that his recovery is going well, but he will not be fit for the grass court season either. The two-time Wimbledon winner will miss the Queens Club Championship.

“My recovery is going well and I feel much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to be able to play, and that’s why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon. They are two really special tournaments for me and I’ll miss them a lot. We keep working to return as soon as possible!,” wrote Alcaraz in a post on X.

Last month, Alcaraz had announced that he would not defend his crown at the French Open due to the same injury.

“After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing is to be cautious and not participate in Rome and Roland Garros, while we wait to assess the evolution to decide when we will return to the court. It’s a complicated moment for me, but I’m sure we’ll come out stronger from this,” wrote the Spaniard on X.

Alcaraz has won both the French Open (2024, 2025) and Wimbledon (2023, 2024) twice in his career. He also played the finals in the latter last year but was denied a third title by Jannik Sinner. The Italian lost a thrilling summit clash at Roland Garros last year to the Spaniard. The World No. 1 is now the favourite to lift the year’s second Grand Slam in Paris for the first time and complete a career slam.

Alcaraz has been out of action since winning the first round match at the Barcelona Open in April. He pulled out of the tournament after the wrist issue bothered him in the match.
