State level workshop on the topic of Data Harmonization was organized in Chhattisgarh. It discussed data quality, standardization, digital platforms, NMDS 2.0 guidelines and strengthening data-based good governance.
Raipur. The second state level training workshop on the topic ‘Data Harmonization’ was organized under the aegis of Directorate of Economics and Statistics Chhattisgarh. The main objective of the workshop was to ensure quality, uniformity and reliability of data by establishing better coordination in the collection, management and use of government data.
Important role of standardized data in policy making
Addressing the program, Additional Director of Economic and Statistics Directorate, Shri Narayan Buliwal said that standardization and coordination of data of various departments is very important for effective policy making, successful implementation of schemes and evidence based decision process. He said that accurate and reliable data forms a strong foundation of good governance.
Technical and policy sessions held in the workshop
Several technical and policy sessions were organized during the workshop. These covered detailed information on topics such as the concept of data harmonisation, operational guidelines for data life cycle management of official statistics, master tool kits, unique identifiers and classification systems. Along with this, experts also presented on NMDS 2.0 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Government of India.
Information given about SQAF and Digital Door Platform
In the workshop, experts also shared information on Statistical Quality Assessment Framework (SQAF) and Digital Door Platform developed under CHiPS. Through these presentations the participants were introduced to the modern processes of data quality assessment, data standardization and digitization.
Data integration discussed in interactive session
Interactive exercises were conducted for the participants in the afternoon session. There was a group discussion on the possibilities of data linkage and data integration between various departments. The participants identified potential data integration points and agreed on future action plans and timelines.
Initiative towards strengthening data based good governance
Officials and technical experts from various departments actively participated in the workshop and shared their experiences and suggestions. This event is being considered an important initiative towards making data based good governance more effective and stronger in the state.
