Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his dream run in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) as he played a stunning knock of 93 runs in just 38 balls to help the Rajasthan Royals (RR) keep their playoff race in their own hands after completing a seven-wicket victory with five balls to spare against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Tuesday (May 19).
This marked the sixth 50+ score of the 15-year-old’s IPL career and the fourth in this season (1 century, 3 half-centuries). He also crossed the 500-run mark in the 2026 IPL and now holds the orange cap with 569 runs this season.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Creates History
Sooryavanshi’s knock today included 10 sixes (and 7 boundaries). It is the third time in his career that he has 10 or more maximums in an IPL innings, after 11 sixes against GT in the 2025 IPL and 12 sixes against SRH earlier this season. He is only the second player after Chris Gayle (4 times) to reach the double-digit mark of sixes three or more times.
| Player | Innings |
| Chris Gayle | 4 |
| Vaibhav Sooryavanshi | 3 |
| Abhishek Sharma | 2 |
| Finn Allen | 2 |
All three innings from Sooryavanshi have come in Jaipur, which makes him the first player to achieve the feat on one ground. Out of Gayle’s four innings, two had come at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Royals opener is also the first player with two such knocks in a run chase in IPL history. He is only the second player after Finn Allen (also in IPL 2026) with multiple innings with 10 or more sixes in the same season.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Completes 50 Sixes In IPL 2026
Sooryavanshi completed 50 sixes in the 2026 IPL and is the first Indian to achieve the feat in a single edition of the tournament and only the third player in history after Gayle and Andre Russell. He now has 53 sixes in the tournament, which is the second-most in history.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Crosses 500 Run Mark
Vaibhav became the first teenager in the history of the IPL to score over 500 runs in an IPL season. The youngest player before the 15-year-old to reach the milestone was Rishabh Pant (age 20 in the 2018 IPL when he scored 684 runs). The left-handed batter has set the world record for being the youngest player to score over 500 runs in a T20 tournament (single edition). He broke Devdutt Padikkal’s record (age 19 in 2019 Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy). No other teenager in world cricket has achieved the rare feat in any competition of the shortest format.
Meanwhile, Sooryavanshi has also set the world record for the best strike rate among players with over 500 runs in any T20 tournament. Only four players (three in the IPL) have managed a scoring rate of over 200, with Abhishek Sharma (in IPL 2026) being the only Indian to do so.
