Sunil Pal recently appeared on a special episode of , which premiered on May 2 and featured Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia as guests. While the episode generated major buzz online, Sunil later opened up about his experience on the show and admitted that he felt singled out during the shoot.
Speaking in a conversation with content creator Suraj Kumar, the veteran comedian claimed that he had not been informed beforehand about presence on the episode. He also revealed that he was initially promised an opportunity to perform a stand-up segment, but according to him, that never happened.
Sunil further stated that he sensed a certain bias against him during the episode, not just from the live audience but also from panellists and Archana Puran Singh.
“It all became one-sided, I felt cornered and targeted at one point in time. A lot of people also noticed this; people were told purposely not to laugh at my jokes, and give extreme reactions to the other person’s smallest joke, too,” Sunil alleged.
He further suggested that Sidhu appeared biased during the interactions on stage. Referring to Sidhu’s reaction to Samay Raina’s jokes, Sunil said, “Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been listening to comedians for 20 years, reacted to a small joke from Samay, saying Too good, you are the next Kapil’. Even Archana was not laughing at that joke; she is someone who, if paid, will also laugh at the wind. But if she didn’t laugh, then I felt there was some planning.”
Users are bashing Sunil for playing the victim as one of them said, “He is living in his own delusional world now. He is getting these interviews and some time in big shows because of Samay Raina. Otherwise no one eants to listen to his poor jokes and adam’s time comedy.”
Another user commented, “Sunil sir … everything is timing and dialogue delivery … your timing was not good but Samay has that x factor in his dialogue delivery .. even we as an audience didn’t find you funny at all .. Acknowledge your weakness and work on it . Otherwise whole life you’ll find mistakes in others.”
One user reacted, “It was the brother himself who started it all. He keeps giving out those 2-rupee interviews, and we called this guy only for that reason—to humiliate him. When you talk trash about everyone, people aren’t gonna shower you with flowers, are they?”
During the special episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Samay Raina was seen taking several playful jabs at veteran comedian Sunil Pal, including jokes about his personal hygiene. At one point during the banter, Samay also quipped that he had learned abusive language by watching Sunil’s old videos.
Despite the on-stage roasting and their public disagreements over comedy styles, Sunil clarified that he does not hold any personal grudge against Samay. The two comedians have previously collaborated on a few advertisements as well.
Sunil further admitted that he was not mentally prepared for the kind of roasting and back-and-forth humour that unfolded during the episode of Kapil Sharma’s show.
