Yogi government is going to give a big honor to 1.43 lakh Shikshamitras in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the state level program in Gorakhpur on May 5. With the increased honorarium of ₹ 18,000, Shikshamitras will get new identity and strength.
May 5 is going to be a special day for Shikshamitras who have been playing an important role in the education system of Uttar Pradesh for years. Now the Yogi government is not only giving increased honorarium to Shiksha Mitras, who have been demanding economic and social recognition for a long time, but is also going to give a new identity to their contribution by honoring them publicly.
This state level program being organized by the state government in Gorakhpur is not being considered just a formal event, but it is being seen as linked to the morale of lakhs of families associated with the education system. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself will inaugurate this program and will also interact with Shikshamitras.
A grand state level event will be held in Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium.
A state level program will be organized on May 5 at 11 am at Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium in Gorakhpur. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the program and address Shikshamitras across the state. The government plans to not limit this program to Gorakhpur only. At the same time, parallel events will be organized in all the districts of the state, in which local public representatives, officers, teachers and Shikshamitras will participate. This will give a comprehensive format to the program and Shiksha Mitras across the state will be able to feel themselves connected to this initiative.

1.43 lakh Shikshamitras will get direct benefits
About 1.43 lakh Shikshamitras working in council primary schools of the state are benefiting from this decision. According to the government, the new system has come into effect from April 1, 2026. Under this, 13,597 Shikshamitras of the Basic Education Department and 1,29,332 Shikshamitras of the Samagra Shiksha Yojana are now being given an honorarium of ₹ 18,000 per month. The benefits of increased honorarium have started being received from the month of April itself. Education Department officials believe that this will improve the financial condition of Shikshamitras and they will be able to perform their responsibilities in schools with more confidence.
