Infosys Jobs: Jobs will not be lost even in the era of AI, CEO Salil Parekh assured. Infosys CEO Salil Parekh Assures No Layoffs Amid Ai Boom Plans To Hire 20000 Freshers

Infosys CEO has dismissed reports of layoffs due to AI. The company will teach new skills to employees and recruit 20,000 freshers. According to him, AI will increase the scope of work, not eliminate jobs.

Bengaluru: On one hand, jobs in the IT sector are under threat due to Artificial Intelligence (AI), on the other hand, India’s leading IT company Infosys has given great relief to its employees. Infosys CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh has made it clear that the company will not make any layoffs because of AI. He said that the company will teach new skills to its employees (reskilling) and will also continue new recruitments to move ahead in this wave of AI.

Break on retrenchment, green signal to recruitment

“We have not made any layoffs in the last one year and have no such plans in the future,” Salil Parekh said in an interview with Money Control. This statement has come at a time when many other IT companies are firing employees citing automation. This year also, this Bengaluru-based company is preparing to hire about 20,000 freshers through campus recruitment. Last year also the company had made similar number of recruitments.

‘AI will not take away jobs, it will expand the scope of work’

Parekh believes that AI can change the way work is done, but will not eliminate jobs. He stressed that AI technology will increase the scope of work, not reduce it. The nature of entry-level jobs may change, but the demand for talent will always remain.

Infosys is training its engineers to work with and without AI tools. With this, they will be more capable of evaluating the code generated by AI.

Heat of layoffs in other companies

On one hand, Infosys is talking about saving jobs, on the other hand, the situation is different in other IT companies. According to reports, TCS may lay off around 12,500 employees by July 2025. Apart from this, companies like HCLTech, Oracle and recently Cognizant are also cutting or reshuffling the number of employees.

AI will become the engine of growth

At present, AI technology accounts for 5.5% of Infosys’ total revenue. The company believes that this will become the biggest source of growth in the coming days. To accelerate this change, Infosys has partnered with companies like OpenAI and Anthropic. Additionally, the company has also created its own platform like ‘Topaz Fabric’.
