Sanjay Dwivedi, father of Shubham Dwivedi, who was martyred in Pahalgam terror attack (22 April 2025), took a tough stand and said that there should be neither political nor sports relations with Pakistan. He also appealed to the government to cancel the match.
“Blood and water cannot flow with”
Sanjay Dwivedi said, “On April 22, Pakistan killed 26 innocent people of our country. The government had said that there will be no relationship with Pakistan, blood and water could not flow together. Now that the news of India-Pakistan match came out, the whole country is opposing it.”

Supreme Court said- match will be held
Here, on Thursday, the Supreme Court refused to hear the petition seeking a ban on the India-Pakistan match. Justice J.K. A bench of Maheshwari and Vijay Vishnoi said that the match would be according to the schedule. The petitioner Urvashi Jain argued that playing with Pakistan would send a wrong message and would ignore the martyrs’ sacrifice. However, the court immediately rejected the demand for hearing.
“Friendship with cricket is an insult to martyrs”
The petition states that Indo-Pak cricket is a symbol of friendship and harmony, but doing so after Pahalgam terror attack and operation vermilion is like sprinkling salt on the wounds of the martyrs and their families. When the country is fighting with Pakistan sponsored terror, playing cricket is against the national interest and the morale of the army.
This will be the first international match between India and Pakistan, since the Pahalgam terror attack and operation were sindoor. The opposition is constantly demanding the government to boycott the match, but the Center has not objected to the Indian team playing in the multi-country tournament.
