Suvendu Adhikari Aide Killed: There was a sensation in the politics of West Bengal on Wednesday night when Chandranath Rath, a close aide and personal assistant of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead in Madhyamgram. This attack was carried out in such a well-planned and professional manner that in the initial investigation itself, the police started suspecting some big conspiracy. The incident is said to have happened around 10:30 pm. Chandranath Rath was returning home in his car. His house was now just 170 meters away. The road looked normal, but everything was about to change in the next few seconds. According to investigators, a suspicious car suddenly stopped in front of their car. The number plate on that car later turned out to be fake. The chariot car was stopped in the middle of the road. Then out of the darkness the attackers riding motorcycles appeared.

‘Point-blank’ attack… 4 bullets and the story is over
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers looked extremely professional. A bike rider quickly approached the car window and started firing from very close range. There was chaos in the area as soon as the sound of bullets was heard. An eyewitness said, “The car stopped suddenly and then a man got down from the bike. He started firing from the left side of the car. Everything was over in a few seconds.” According to doctors, Chandranath Rath was declared dead before reaching the hospital. There were several bullets in his chest, one of which hit directly into his heart. Police also recovered empty cartridges and live bullets from the spot.

Fake number plate, numberless bike and ‘missing’ shooter
The most shocking revelation in the investigation was about the suspicious car which had stopped Rath’s vehicle. Police said that the number plate of the car was fake and there was a possibility of tampering with its chassis number. There were no number plates on the motorcycles of the attackers. After the incident, the car was left on the spot, while the attackers fled on a bike. Police believe that the entire incident was reconnoitred in advance and the escape route was also decided. According to sources, four motorcycles and a car were used in this attack. This is the reason why the investigating agencies are considering it as a ‘targeted operation’ rather than a normal crime.

What Glock 47X pistol was used?
Police officials suspect that the attackers used sophisticated weapons. Initial investigations suggest the possibility of use of high-end pistols like Glock 47X. “Such weapons are not in the possession of common criminals. We are trying to find out whether professional shooters were involved,” a senior officer said. This statement is making this murder more mysterious. Questions are being raised – Was it just political enmity or is there a bigger conspiracy hidden behind it?

BJP’s attack, TMC’s reply
After the incident, BJP directly targeted Trinamool Congress. BJP leaders described it as a “cold-blooded murder” and alleged political violence. Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the attackers had done recce in advance and the entire attack was planned very precisely. BJP leaders said that there was a “deep conspiracy” behind this murder. On the other hand, Trinamool Congress has also condemned the incident. However, amidst political allegations and counter-allegations, the biggest question still remains – who got Chandranath Rath murdered and why?
