Adhikamas 2026
Adhik Maas 2026: Adhikamas means a year of 13 months. In Sanatan Dharma, Adhikamas has been given special significance. Adhikamas is considered a month dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In Hindu religion, an Adhikamas falls every third year. It is also called Purushottam month or Malmas. Fasting and worshiping Lord Vishnu in this month gives a lot of virtue. It is believed that donations made in this month also give special results.
This year Adhikamas is going to start from 17th May. This month will last till June 15. While the pujas and fasts performed in this month are considered special, some activities are also prohibited in Adhikamas. Anyone who does these things during this period gets inauspicious results, so let us know about the things that should not be done in Adhikamaas.
Do not do this work in Adhikamaas
- It is prohibited to do auspicious works in Adhikamas, hence during this period do not do any auspicious works like marriage, tonsure, Upanayana Sanskar and engagement even by mistake. It is believed that all these auspicious works do not give auspicious results during this period.
- If you are planning to start a new business, then do it after the end of Adhikamas. Do not start a new business even by mistake in Adhikamaas. There is more possibility of failure than success in any work started during this period.
- It is not auspicious to lay the foundation of a new house or enter a new house in Adhikamas. By doing this negative energy enters the new house. Therefore, do not do these things during this time.
- Do not consume tamasic things like meat, alcohol, garlic and onion during Adhikamaas. It is advised to live a virtuous life in this month.
- Do not buy land, gold, new car or other expensive things in Adhikamas. It is inauspicious to buy these things in this month. This leads to inauspicious results.
- Avoid getting angry and telling lies during Adhikamaas. Apart from this, do not insult anyone.
