Nellore: YSRCP president and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the state government over land allotment to a private defence company at Juvvaladine Fishing Harbour.
He stated that the harbour reflects the injustices prevailing in the state. He further noted that 29-40 acres of land allotted to Sagar Defence company will adversely affect the livelihood of the fishermen.
‘Defence company will be shifted from here’
Jagan Reddy has demanded the project to be shifted to Krishnapatnam and announced that the land deal will be cancelled once he returns to power.
“We laid foundation for four ports, developed 10 fishing harbours and fish landing centres to improve the livelihoods of the fishermen. We secured all necessary clearances and established a maritime board. The Juvvaladinne harbour was inaugurated on March 12, 2024. It would have been different had we returned to power,” he said.
He questioned the government and asked why the remaining work was not completed and why it is still not operational. He alleged that the government is trying to displace the fishermen from Juvvaladinne.
“TDP MLAs and MPs are acting against the interest of the fishermen. When we return to power, we will relocate the defence company from here.” He noted that fishermen’s rights over the harbours would be protected at all costs.
