The role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is continuously increasing in the Indian film industry. Keeping this changing era in mind, Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Google are going to organize a special AI Filmmaking Workshop at YRF Studio on 4th August. This program has been designed for professionals associated with film production and creative fields.

Hands-on training will be available on Google Flow

During the workshop, the changing role of AI in cinema and storytelling will be discussed in detail. Along with this, the participants will also be given practical training in Google’s AI creative studio ‘Flow’. This session will explain to filmmakers and creative professionals how they can make AI tools a part of their existing production process. The special thing will be that the emphasis will be on using AI as a collaborative tool, so that the control of story, creativity and decision making remains completely with the filmmakers.

Google Flow team’s first major initiative with international studios

This event marks one of the first times Google’s Flow team has engaged directly with production and creative leadership at a major international studio. This session at YRF has been designed keeping in mind the creative and production professionals of the film industry. The main focus of the program will be to strengthen creativity and maintain creative control.

Akshay Vidhani said – the story should always remain at the center

Akshay Vidhani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Yash Raj Films, said that every generation gets new technological tools, but the most important question is whether the technology will help the story or overpower the story. He said that YRF has decided to have this discussion early on with the people who are building this technology. According to him, this session will provide direction to filmmakers and creative teams to use AI responsibly and wisely. He stressed that creativity must remain in human hands and that the camera, the artist and the story should always be at the center of the process.

Google appreciated the enthusiasm of Indian creators

Dr. Aarti Sethumadhavan, Director of User Experience Research, Technology and Society at Google, said that there is already a lot of enthusiasm about Google Flow in India. He said that through this workshop, Google wants to take its AI Creative Studio to more and more creators of the country. The company is also keen to see how India’s eminent storytellers explore new possibilities of artistic expression using this technology.

There will also be a chance for networking and deep-dive sessions

Not limited to just training, this workshop can also become the basis of continuous communication between Google and India’s leading storytellers in future. The event will feature exclusive networking opportunities with Google’s AI engineering and product teams. There will also be optional deep-dive modules for filmmakers who want to incorporate Flow into their existing methodology. The overarching objective of this initiative is to understand how world-class creators can develop new dimensions of storytelling using AI tools and propel Indian cinema to new heights and new identities on the global platform.
