A dreadful combination of superstition and crime has been seen in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Here a woman was wandering from door to door in search of her missing husband, taking advantage of which an impostor Tantrik raped her in the name of ‘Tantra-Mantra’.
The police showed promptness and arrested the accused but this incident has exposed such wolves hidden in the society.

The victim woman is a resident of Sakkardara area of Nagpur and runs her household by doing hard labour. On October 15, 2025, the woman’s husband suddenly went away without informing her. Even after searching for the police and relatives for several months, when no trace of her husband was found, the woman was mentally broken. During this helplessness, he met an impostor named Tahir Rashid Baig.
Exploited under the pretext of mantra
Accused Tahir described himself as a great expert in Tantra-Mantra. He claimed that he would get the woman’s husband back within a few days with his powers. Wanting to get her husband back, the woman got trapped in the clutches of the accused. It is alleged that Tahir threatened the woman under the guise of Tantra-Mantra and, taking advantage of her helplessness, raped her. When the woman realized that she was not going to get a husband and was only being physically exploited, she showed courage and went to the police.
Police action and arrest
Considering the seriousness of the matter, Sakkardara police immediately registered a case. The team led by police officer Pramod Pore laid siege and arrested the accused Tahir Rashid Baig from Dabbipura area of Anjangaon. Police have registered a case against the accused under various sections of rape and fraud. The police are now also investigating whether this impostor has made any other woman his victim before.
