The CM wrote, “Women from mountains to plains are getting the benefit of free transport. West Bengal has moved forward in the direction of realizing the dream of the illustrious Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji of empowerment of women.” Emphasizing the vision behind this scheme, the Chief Minister said in his post that BJP has fulfilled one of its big ‘promise’ made before the elections.

- The post further said, “Ensuring the safety, freedom and dignity of our mothers and daughters is our top priority. We stand firm on our promises as we continue the important work of rebuilding a safe, prosperous and self-reliant Sonar Bangla. Speaking on the financial benefits of the scheme, a female passenger told ANI that it would be great for women if daily travel in the state becomes free.
- “It will definitely be convenient as we have to travel 50-60 kilometers every day. We spend Rs 8,500-9,000 a month on transportation expenses, so if something becomes free here, it will be good for us,” he said.
- Meanwhile, according to a notification issued by the transport department on May 21, the West Bengal government had said, “All women of West Bengal will be provided free transport in all state-run buses, including all short-route and long-route public service buses in various categories of buses.”
