Yogi Adityanath orders relief measures after storm and lightning losses in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a series of relief measures following recent storms, heavy rainfall and lightning incidents that caused loss of life, crop damage and livestock losses in several districts of the state.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed district administrations to provide immediate assistance to affected families and instructed ministers in charge of districts to visit impacted areas and review the situation on the ground. Officials were also told to ensure that relief work is carried out without delays.

According to government directives, families of those who died in disaster-related incidents will receive financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh. Compensation has also been announced for farmers whose crops suffered more than 33 percent damage. The compensation rates vary based on the type of farmland and cultivation.

Relief measures have additionally been extended to livestock owners. Financial support has been fixed for the death of milch and non-milch animals, while separate compensation amounts have been announced for smaller animals such as goats, sheep and pigs.

During a review meeting held through video conferencing, Relief Commissioner Dr. Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod instructed district officials to personally monitor relief distribution and maintain regular contact with affected families. Control rooms have also been placed on alert to monitor the situation and respond to emergency calls.

The state administration said surveys of damaged crops and affected areas are being conducted to ensure eligible beneficiaries receive assistance. Officials have also been directed to speed up verification work so compensation can be distributed in a timely manner.

The India Meteorological Department’s weather alerts were circulated through official warning systems as authorities continued monitoring conditions across vulnerable districts.
