Bhopal. On the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5), Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav launched the state level program ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign. In a function organized at Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium in the capital Bhopal, the Chief Minister inaugurated and released many important works related to environmental protection, water conservation and circular economy.

On this occasion, he launched five course modules related to circular economy. Besides, under the Jal Ganga Augmentation Campaign run by APCO and INTACH, documents of 500 stepwells located in 16 districts of the state were also released. An exhibition showcasing the innovations being made in the field of environment protection, water conservation and circular economy was also organized in the programme, which was visited by the Chief Minister.

Honored for those who have made outstanding contributions to environmental protection

During the program, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav presented a total of 11 state level environment awards in eight different categories. These honors given for the year 2024-25 were given to those industrial units, educational institutions, social organizations and individuals who have done remarkable work in the field of environmental protection, pollution control and sustainable development.

Environment protection campaign moving forward with the vision of Prime Minister Modi

The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride for the country that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has entered his 13th year after completing 12 successful years. He said that Prime Minister Modi has a far-sighted vision behind campaigns like ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. CM said that the basis of Indian Sanatan culture is to live life in balance with nature and environment. Today the whole world is looking towards India with hopeful eyes for environmental protection. He said that human life is made up of five elements and there is a detailed description of environmental protection in our religious texts. Referring to ‘Yat Pinde Tat Brahmande’, he said that humans and nature are deeply interconnected with each other.

Special importance of nature worship in Indian culture

The Chief Minister said that nature has a very important place in Indian traditions. Our worship and religious rituals are not considered complete without nature. From Sandhyavandan to offering Arghya to the Sun, every process is linked to nature. The food offered to God is also considered incomplete without Tulsi.

Giving the example of famous scientist Jagadish Chandra Basu, he said that he had scientifically proved that plants also have life. However, this has been accepted in Indian culture for centuries. He said that even today people in villages have the knowledge that plants have senses and hence plucking leaves of plants at night is avoided.

CM said that in Indian tradition, a tree is considered equal to ten sons. With this spirit, the state government is doing the work of conservation of rivers, wells, stepwells and ponds through Jal Ganga Augmentation Campaign.

India became stronger under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to be among the longest serving Prime Ministers of the country. The dignity of the post of Prime Minister has further increased under his leadership. Referring to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that he ran a successful government with a coalition of 24 parties and gave historic schemes like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to the country.

CM said that today India has emerged as a stronger and more confident nation at the global level. The country is taking decisive action against terrorism and Naxalism. Indian talents in the fields of space, science, technology and sports are making their mark on the world stage. Prime Minister Modi has been continuously encouraging sportspersons and scientists.

Steps towards erasing the 40 year old stain of Bhopal gas tragedy

The Chief Minister said that at present the entire world is facing energy crisis due to El Nino and conditions in West Asia. Despite this, India is moving forward strongly in the energy sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. He described the Bhopal gas tragedy as one of the most devastating incidents for the environment and human life. The CM said that adequate accountability was not fixed at that time against those responsible for the gas leak. He said that the state government has taken a big step by successfully disposal of the waste present in the Union Carbide factory premises after almost 40 years. Now the government is moving towards better and safe use of that land.

Special emphasis on green energy and wildlife conservation in Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the state government is making continuous efforts to promote green energy. Green energy projects of 62 MW capacity including solar energy, wind energy, biomass and hydro power projects are being implemented at a rapid pace. He informed that big green energy projects are being developed in many areas including Khajuraho. Along with this, the state government is also working seriously for wildlife conservation. Cheetahs have been rehabilitated in the state and wild buffaloes have also been brought from Assam.

CM said that Madhya Pradesh is becoming an excellent example of wildlife conservation and coexistence with nature. He said that the story of Kaliya Nag Mardan by Lord Shri Krishna also gives the message that everyone has equal rights on natural resources like fire, water, air, earth and sun.
