Australia has once again made it to the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The Australian team, which had lost in the semi-finals of the last World Cup, defeated West Indies in a one-sided match in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026. Australia, captained by Sophie Molineau, achieved the target of 126 runs in just 13 overs in the match played at the Oval in London and won by 8 wickets. With this, Australia secured its place in the final of this tournament for the record eighth time with its sixth consecutive win.
maximum 6 times t20 world cup The Australian women’s team, which had won the title, was eliminated in the semi-finals of this tournament last time. This was only the second time in the last 9 editions of the tournament that Australia could not reach the final. But in the 10th T20 World Cup, once again the Australian team returned in its champion style and made it to the title match. This victory was also special for Australia because it took revenge for the defeat suffered by West Indies in the 2016 final 10 years ago.
Australian spinners shine
In the first semi-final played at the Oval, Australia had the upper hand from the beginning and were considered the contenders for victory. But hardly anyone would have thought that this victory would be so easy for him. Captain Hayley Matthews (30) made a good start for West Indies but once the Australian spinners started taking wickets, the West Indies innings faltered. 6 wickets had fallen for only 83 runs. But after this Deandra Dottin scored 26 runs in just 16 balls and took the team to 125 runs. For Australia, Ashley Gardner, captain Molineau and Georgia Wareham took 2-2 wickets.
Mooney again washes West Indies
This target was not at all difficult for Australia and the same thing happened. The team made a fast start and lost 2 wickets in the middle, while star all-rounder Ellyse Perry retired hurt but Beth Mooney and Gardner did not give West Indies any chance to take advantage of it. Mooney, continuing his brilliant performance against West Indies, scored unbeaten 61 runs in just 36 balls and along with Gardner (35 not out, 20 balls) made a partnership of 63 runs to give the team victory in the 13th over. The final match will be held on July 5, in which Australia will now face the winner of the second semi-final. Hosts England and South Africa are face to face in the second semi-final. This match will be played on 2nd July.
