The Delhi government has constituted the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and the Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) on the instructions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Lata Gupta has been appointed DCW and Nirmal Jain as DMC Chairman. Besides, members of both the commissions have also been appointed.

New Delhi [भारत]July 26 (ANI): The Delhi government has constituted the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and the Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) on the instructions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Orders for the appointment of chairpersons and members of both the panels have been issued.

Appointment of chairpersons and members of the Commission

Lata Gupta has been appointed chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, while Shyam Bala, Malti Verma, Lata Sodhi, Sarika Sharma Jha and Renu Bhalla have been appointed as its members. Nirmal Jain has been appointed chairman of the Delhi Minorities Commission, with Kuldeep Singh and Mohammad Haroon named as its members.

Emphasis on women empowerment and social justice

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the move is aimed at strengthening the protection of women’s rights, promoting their empowerment and ensuring the welfare of minority communities and effectively protecting their constitutional rights. CM Gupta said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has given a new direction to good governance, women empowerment, social justice and inclusive development. Taking forward this vision, Delhi Government is ensuring that women and minority communities get effective protection of their rights, dignified opportunities and timely justice.

‘The commission will become the voice of the weaker sections’

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the Delhi CM said that “Delhi Commission for Women and Delhi Minorities Commission are not just statutory bodies, but important platforms that will strengthen public confidence and amplify the voice of the weaker and deprived sections of the society.” The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the chairpersons and members of both the commissions will play an important role in quick and effective resolution of matters related to public interest and will discharge their responsibilities with impartiality, sensitivity and complete transparency.

According to the Chief Minister, the Delhi government is committed to ensuring dignity, security and equal opportunities for every section of the society. She said that Delhi Commission for Women will play an effective role in protecting the rights of women, ensuring speedy redressal of their complaints and helping them get justice. At the same time, Delhi Minority Commission will work to protect the interests of minority communities and promote their welfare and inclusive development. (ANI)
