Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), April 14: A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, where a woman was allegedly molested during a Shobha Yatra (procession) held on the occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday (April 14). Instead of helping her, the police inspector scolded the victim in front of the crowd present at the Shobha Yatra. The incident was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. The incident has sparked outrage on social media.

As per reports, the incident occurred in the Civil Lines area of Aligarh. During the procession, the woman was walking along the road when a few men started misbehaving with her. She immediately approached the Civil Lines Inspector to file a complaint.

However, instead of taking action against the accused, the officer reportedly scolded the woman and dismissed her complaint. In a video that has gone viral on social media, the police inspector can be seen yelling at the woman, while no strict action was taken against those who allegedly harassed her.

The woman can be heard saying, “Bachcha hai woh? Woh jaanbuj ke takraya mere se. Main pagal hu kya? Main koi pagal hu kya?” to which the police officer replied, “Are toh hum pagal hain jo police officer hain.” The woman then said, “Main aapko bata rahi hu woh mujhe aise chuke gaya hai.”

The woman then angrily said, “Kyuki tum use bachcha keh rahe ho. Yehi bachche jo jitne bhi rape hote hai na bachche hi karte hai.” She can also be heard saying that she expected support from the police, but was instead blamed and humiliated. The video has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious questions about the functioning of the Aligarh Police.

Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated across India to honour Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. Many processions and events are held on this day.
