London [यूके]July 2 (ANI): Serbia’s tennis legend Novak Djokovic confirmed his place in the third round of Wimbledon by defeating Greece’s star player Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets on Wednesday night.
Djokovic, chasing his 25th Grand Slam title and first title after the US Open 2023, defeated Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. With his all-round flamboyant performance, he made it to the third round of this grass major for the 20th time. According to the official ATP website, he has also increased his head-to-head record against Tsitsipas to 13-2.
En route to victory, Djokovic produced a brilliant performance, breaking Tsitsipas and hitting three winners to wrap up the game, including a spectacular lob that landed just inside the baseline, ending the match in one hour and 38 minutes.
Djokovic is happy with his excellent performance
“When you play like this you feel very happy, satisfied and joyful on the court,” Djokovic said in his on-court interview.
He added, “Once you get the rhythm… that game, when I went 5-2, was one of the best comeback games I’ve played. I just played for my shots. I was a little more relaxed, a little less stressed in my mind.”
Djokovic’s dominance in the match
Tsitsipas, who has struggled with injuries and poor form over the past few seasons, entered the tournament ranked 87th. Djokovic’s 33 winners and only seven unforced errors gave him a huge lead in the match, as he did not lose serve throughout the match and will now face France’s Arthur Rinderknecht. (ANI)
