Speaking in his post-match interview, Arthur said, “It seems like it’s getting better and better with every match. I just can’t believe it. Incredible, playing on Center Court for the second time, winning for the second time. I just can’t believe it.”
Ferry, just the fifth British player to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals after Roger Taylor, Tim Henman, Andy Murray and Cameron Norrie, faces a tough opponent in French Open champion Alexander Zverev. Regarding the clash with Zverev, Ferry said, “I think it will be a first and we’ll figure it out as we go. I’ll just keep moving forward. I’ve worked really well the last 10 days. I’m just going to keep doing the same thing and see where it takes me.”
Will compete with Zverev in the semi-finals
Earlier, Zverev had defeated sixth-seeded American Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. After losing his previous seven matches to Fritz, the German secured his first Wimbledon semi-final with a one-hour, 59-minute victory, becoming just the fifth player from his country to reach a Wimbledon semi-final in the Open Era. He also became the fifth active male player to reach the semi-finals of all four major tournaments, joining Novak Djokovic, Marin Cilic, Carlos Alcaraz and Yannick Sinner.
Zverev later said, “I hope to play two more matches here. But for now, I’m extremely happy to reach the semi-finals, especially against Taylor, who I haven’t beaten for over two years. He’s been beating me for two years in a row. I played a great match, and I’m very happy to reach the semi-finals.” (ANI)
