What is the matter?

Actually, currently the 2% increase in DA of central employees is effective from January to June half. Now the next announcement will be for the July to December half year. DA for December half is usually announced during Navratri or Dussehra.

Something similar is likely to happen this time too. It is being told in all the media reports that dearness allowance will increase by 3% to 63%. More than one crore central employees and pensioners are expected to benefit from this.

When did the allowance increase?

On April 18, the Union Cabinet decided to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of central government employees and pensioners by two percent. Regarding the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that due to increase in both dearness allowance and dearness relief, there will be a total burden of Rs 6,791.24 crore annually on the government exchequer. This increase of two percent on the existing rate of 58 percent of basic salary or pension is to compensate for inflation. This additional installment of DA to central government employees and DR to pensioners will be given from January 1, 2026.

Rajasthan government has also given a gift

Meanwhile, on the instructions of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, a two percent increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief has been approved in the state. This will increase the dearness allowance of state employees and pensioners by two percent.

Now under the seventh pay scale in the state, dearness allowance or dearness relief will be increased from 58 percent to 60 percent from January 1, 2026. About 7.02 lakh employees and 5.44 lakh pensioners will benefit from this decision. Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad employees will also get the benefit of this increase. The employees will be paid in cash the increased dearness allowance from the salary of May 2026 payable in the coming June.
