There is no possibility of zero-zero fee strategy under the proposed Bilatral Trade Agreement (BTA) between India and the US, as the two countries are at different levels of economic growth. Some business experts have suggested that India may propose a zero-zero fee strategy to the US to deal with America’s counter-duty increase.
Agreement can be reached between US-European Association
An official said that zero-to-zero duty between the US and the European Union (EU) may be possible as both are developed and advanced nations. The official said that the Indo-US Agreement will always be a package agreement which may include issues like goods and non-fee obstacles.
There is a difference in the position of Indo-America
He said, it does not happen that if he does zero in electronics, then we will also do so in electronics. Trade agreements are not made like this. This is a wrong thinking. India and America are talking on BTA since March. Both sides have targeted to complete the first phase of the agreement by September-October this year, which aims to bring bilateral trade to the current $ 191 billion to $ 500 billion by 2030.
The official said, work has started for the agreement. India is far ahead of other countries in talking about trade agreement. India and the United States have decided to organize area-specific dialogue in the coming weeks under the agreement. The decision to discuss in the coming weeks has been taken after a four -day talks between senior officials of India and the US, which was concluded here on 29 March.
