The wait for the mega auction of IPL 2025 is going to end soon. There will be an auction of players in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 24th and 25th November. Royal Challengers Bangalore team will be looking for star players as well as captain in this auction. Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained only 3 players this time, which does not include the name of Faf du Plessis, who was the captain of this team till last season. In such a situation, the RCB team can be seen playing with a new captain in the next season. Amidst all this, former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has given a big statement regarding the captain of RCB.
Who will be the new captain of RCB?
Robin Uthappa believes that Royal Challengers Bangalore should take a bet on Rajat Patidar and make him the team captain. 31 year old Rajat Patidar has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore team for the last three years. He started his IPL career with RCB team. However, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team can also bet on players like KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant in the auction, who have been captaining the IPL for quite some time. Shreyas Iyer is also a big name, who will be seen in the auction.
Uthappa said on GeoCinema, ‘I think they should look at Rajat Patidar to take over that role because it seems you need a new captain after two years. So, you can do it now so that you can move ahead and become captain for the next three to five years. Rajat is one of those players who can really play this role for them.
Rajat Patidar’s career
Rajat Patidar has played a total of 27 matches in IPL so far. In these matches he has scored 799 runs at an average of 34.73. Rajat Patidar also has 7 half-centuries and 1 century in his name in IPL. He scored this century against Lucknow in the eliminator match of IPL 2022. Apart from this, Rajat Patidar has also played 3 test matches and 1 ODI match for Team India. In the Test, he scored only 63 runs at an average of 10.50, whereas in the ODI, he played an inning of 22 runs. Although he has not played a single T20 match for Team India yet.
RCB retained these players
Royal Challengers Bangalore surprised everyone this time by retaining only 3 players. RCB retained Virat Kohli the highest for Rs 21 crore. Rajat Patidar was retained for 11 crores and Yash Dayal was retained for 5 crores. In such a situation, she will now enter the auction with Rs 83 crore and she also has 3 right to match cards.
