Suryakumar Yadav: The future of Indian T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav is currently under question. Even though Team India won the T20 World Cup 2026 title under his captaincy. But due to continuous poor performance, the selectors are no longer sure about keeping him in the team only as a batsman. The selectors hoped that IPL would become a platform for his comeback, but that has not happened. Suryakumar Yadav has scored only 210 runs in 12 innings in IPL 2026. Suryakumar, who was once considered one of the most dangerous batsmen in T20 cricket, is now seen struggling against the bowlers. This is why now the team management is seriously considering future plans.
But the Indian Cricket Board is understanding that good coordination between the coach and the captain is very important for the atmosphere of the team. In such a situation, it will not be easy to ignore Gautam Gambhir’s opinion. The relationship between Gambhir and Suryakumar is considered very strong. People who understand the internal environment of the team believe that Gambhir openly supports his favorite players and his opinion is very influential in team selection. In such a situation, if Gambhir stands in support of Suryakumar, it may be difficult for the selectors to remove him immediately. That means Gambhir will take the final decision on Surya’s future.
