A case may be registered against VHP leader Champat Rai regarding the donation scam in Ayodhya Ram temple. After the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) sought the report, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has reached Ayodhya.
New Delhi: A case may be registered against Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Vice President and Trust General Secretary Champat Rai in connection with the scam in donation of Ayodhya Ram temple. After immense pressure, preparations are being made to take action against Champat Rai. Trust member Dr. Anil Mishra is also on the radar of the investigating agencies. As more evidence is found, the investigation team will take further action. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sought a report on this donation scam. The UP government has submitted the preliminary investigation report to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). After the controversy, the administrative functioning of the Ayodhya temple has been handed over to the District Magistrate.
Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has again reached Ayodhya. The SIT will also record the statements of those businessmen who complained about the scam. The investigation team will record the statements of those who had donated many valuables, including 60 kg silver ingots, which are now missing. A senior leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad has distanced himself from Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, who is facing allegations in this scam.
The Indian Bullion and Jewelers Association had donated 60 kg of silver ingots during the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. This silver was taken as donation from traders across the country and their names were engraved on it and handed over to the temple. Association President Anurag Rastogi had clearly said that there was no trace of the silver ingots and he would file a complaint against the temple trust.
Anil Vishwakarma, a businessman from Mumbai, had also donated a 3 kg silver necklace and anklets. Vishwakarma was promised that he would be sent a receipt and a photograph of the idol along with the donated items, but this promise turned out to be false. Dr. Raju Manwani, Chairman of Castle Group of Companies, had also complained that he had donated silver worth Rs 2 crore, but he was not even given a receipt. SIT will record the statements of all these people and others who gave confidential information. The initial report of the SIT also indicates that jewelery has been recovered from the houses of temple employees close to Champat Rai.
