Ram Mandir Donation Case: In the Ram Mandir donation case, the Supreme Court refused to monitor the investigation and ordered to include a chartered accountant in the SIT. The court also sought a status report in two weeks.
The Supreme Court has issued important instructions regarding the investigation of Ram Mandir donation theft case. The court refused to directly monitor the investigation and said that the investigation should be completely fair, accurate and transparent. For this purpose, the court has ordered to include a chartered accountant (forensic auditor) in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) being formed, so that financial transactions can be investigated in depth.
What did the Supreme Court say?
A bench headed by the Chief Justice (CJI) rejected the petitioner’s demand requesting the Supreme Court to monitor the investigation. The court clearly said that it will not monitor the investigation, but will ensure that the entire process remains fair and transparent. Also, the SIT has been directed to file the status report within two weeks.

How will the SIT investigation be conducted?
SIT is being formed on the basis of officers suggested by the Uttar Pradesh government. The team is led by S. Kiran will do it, while DIG, IG and SP level officers will also be included in it. The Supreme Court directed that a chartered accountant or forensic auditor should also be made a member of the team, to ensure unbiased investigation of financial records and donation transactions.
Petitioner raised demand for transparency
During the hearing, senior advocate Devdutt Kamat, appearing for the petitioner, said that people across the country had donated small and big amounts like ₹ 100 and ₹ 500, but it is alleged that the entire amount did not reach the trust. He demanded to make all the receipts of the trust public on the website. On this, the court said that first the SIT should present its report, only then necessary steps to ensure transparency will be considered.
