Will Mumbai separate from Maharashtra? This issue is currently being discussed in full swing in the politics of Maharashtra. Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has made a big promise in this regard. He has said that a conspiracy is being hatched to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra. But we will not let this conspiracy succeed. During this, he also targeted NITI Aayog.
Addressing an election rally in Mumbai, Uddhav said that we will never let NITI Aayog’s ploy to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra come to fruition. He said that NITI Aayog wants to reduce the importance of BMC. The blueprint of NITI Aayog for the development of Mumbai Metropolitan Region is not right. This will reduce the importance of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
We will cancel the proposal- Uddhav
Thackeray said that if we come to power, we, the Maha Vikas Aghadi, will cancel the agreement regarding which there was an agreement between the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Thackeray said that the purpose of this agreement is to reduce the importance of BMC. This is a ploy to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra.
Uddhav further said that MMRDA and the World Economic Forum had signed an MoU in September to make the Mumbai Metropolitan Region a global economic hub. He said that this agreement was signed after the report of NITI Aayog. Thackeray said that NITI Aayog had prepared a report regarding the development of Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Thackeray said in the rally that the first decision of the MVA would be to end the policies of the Mahayuti government. He said that Mahayuti is not anti-development but anti-destruction.
What is NITI Aayog’s proposal?
NITI Aayog has prepared a report for the development of Mumbai Metropolitan Region. In this report, the Commission has set the target of GDP in Mumbai Metropolitan Region at 300 billion dollars by 2030. After the agreement, the World Economic Forum will help the state government in the development of MMR. The state government says that the cooperation of WEF will help us in promoting MMR on global platforms. MMR is currently a $140 billion economy. Its per capita income is Rs 4,36,000. Between 2012 and 2020, MMR had registered a growth of 6.1 percent. The GDP of this region is to reach around 1.5 trillion dollars by 2047.
