Voting has been done for Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. Both BJP and Congress are busy calculating their respective victories. 77.15 percent voting took place on all 230 seats in the state, which is one and a half percent more than in 2018. This time, 78.21 percent of the total male voters exercised their franchise while only 76.03 percent of the female voters reached the polling booth. In this way, even though women may have voted two percent less, women have voted more than 80 percent on 72 seats.

The hopes of both Congress and BJP coming to power rest on the women voting pattern, because both the parties have made every possible effort to woo women voters. While BJP is considering Ladli Behna Yojana as a game changer, Congress is dreaming of returning to power through women power. In such a situation, now it has to be seen who will be successful in winning the trust of women?

While BJP is hoping to get the benefit of ‘Laadli Brahmin Yojana’ on these 72 seats, Congress is also pinning its hopes on its Nari Samman Yojana. By announcing Nari Samman Yojana, Congress has promised to give pension of Rs 1500 every month to women. While giving a gas cylinder for Rs 500, an assistance of Rs 1 lakh was announced for the daughter marriage scheme. Pension of Rs 1200 per month to old, widowed disabled women. 50 percent seats are reserved for women in the health and education institutions of the state and a promise has been made to give free passes to women in metropolitan bus services.

BJP has promised to increase this amount to Rs 3000. Apart from this, BJP had announced to provide gas cylinder for Rs 450. Apart from this, many populist promises were made for women.

How much strength is there in the claims of BJP and Congress?

BJP has reported an increase of 2 percent in women voting compared to the previous elections. BJP is considering the increase in women voting as the effect of Ladli Behna Yojana and says that it will directly benefit the party. At the same time, Congress is keeping its figures in terms of total voting of women. Congress says that this time women have voted less as compared to 2018. In 2018, 1.95 percent less women voted, this time it has reduced by 2.18 percent. In this way, Congress is calling Ladli Brahmin scheme a failure and considering it to be the effect of anti-incumbency wave. In this way, both Congress and BJP have their own claims and arguments, it remains to be seen whose move was successful?
