UP Elections 2027: Amidst preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) President and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad on Tuesday spoke on his party’s poll strategy.
Azad asserted that he is ready to make a pre-poll alliance with any political party other than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The MP said he would welcome any party, except the BJP, for the alliance.
A Message For Samajwadi Party?
Azad’s statement is seen as an invitation for a pre-poll alliance with Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party. Following Azad’s remark on an alliance, discussions about a possible alliance with the Samajwadi Party and ASP have intensified. Last time in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Azad’s party went solo in the polls after pre-poll alliance talks with the Samajwadi Party failed.
In an interview, Azad said that he has not closed his doors to any party. “I am not refusing anyone. If anyone wants to contest the elections with us, they are welcome. But we have ideological differences with the BJP, so anyone who wants to leave it and join us is welcome,” he explained.
Referring to the 2022 defeat, Azad said his security deposit was forfeited in the last assembly elections, which he considers a political insult. However, the ASP leader stated that he did not give up on that defeat. According to him, the greatest lesson in politics is to rise again after falling and move forward. With this mindset, he continued to work hard and won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
ASP Engaged in Election Preparations
Azad stated that his party has intensified preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027. The party has released a list of 45 in-charges and is working to strengthen the organisation down to the booth level. He asserted that the party is continuously active on public issues and is confident of doing well in the upcoming polls.
